Recap: Workshop: How to develop your professional recognition in IT Service Management

At the itSMF professional development event on March 24th, 2011, our honorable guest speaker Suzanne D. Van Hove, Ed.D. who is the priSM program director from itSMF International. The forum was organized for IT Professional to explore how they can develop their professional recognition in IT Service Management via ITIL (IT infrastructure Library) certification and priSM (Professional Recognition for IT Service Management).
What is priSM?
priSM provides a framework and guidance for continuing professional development while building upon member's existing training, certifications, education, and experience. priSM also delivers a structured pathway for continuing professional growth while maintaining a registry for professionals to track their continued attainment of standing.

The interactive workshop comprised three parts. Firstly, Suzanne gave an introduction of priSM followed by Q&A. Key discussions included:-
- Professionalism - what is it and what does it take to create a profession
- Certification vs. credential
- Credentialing and you
- The priSM process
In the second part, our Director of International Executive Board at itSMF International Mr. H.P. Suen who also demonstrated how to apply priSM's DPSM (Distinguished Professional on Service Management) qualification. Finally the event had concluded with a networking session among the audience on various topics and discussion.
