New Chairman elected
The Hong Kong Chapter held the 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 28th May 2010 (Friday).
The meeting began with Chairman's report. Mr. H P Suen mentioned that 2009/2010 was a wonderful year. Report highlights are as follows:
- Three sub-committee core members were appointed last year. The appointments strengthened the council's capability of mobilization;
- The chapter organized various kind of activities and they were well-received by members and industry fellows. The 2010 annual conference was a great accomplishment. The success of the event was indicated by positive feedbacks on the informative topics, record attendance (over 150 attendees), as well as overwhelming sponsorships (12 sponsors);
- The growth in membership for the two consecutive years was encouraging. The increase in number of members for the past year was 72, in which 51 were individual members. The membership as at the date of meeting was 464.
Following Mr. Eric Lung's presentation on the 2009/2010 Financial Report, the meeting proceeded to election. Seven retired council members were nominated for re-election namely Mr. H P Suen, Mr. Raymond Yu, Mr. Eric Lung, Mr. Sherwin Wong, Mr. C K Li, Mr. Fred Sheu, and Ms Juliana Li. Besides, Mr. Derek Fu, formerly sub-committee core member, was also nominated for election. All nominations were elected to the council.
The election was immediately followed by the appointments. Mr. H P Suen stepped down from the chairmanship and he was appointed as Director of International Affairs.
Mr. Eric Lung, formerly Honourable Treasurer, was elected to take up the chairman. The newly elected chair said after the meeting, "This is my honour to have the chance to take up this challenging role. With all your (council members') support and contribution, I'm confident that this will be another year of success of the Chapter."
